Canteen! Hm mm, does that sound delicious?? Be honest! No! Not at all! It has a taste of everyday-grab-something- to-eat in a bleak side by side table setting.
Well that was my ancient picture of a student’s canteen. But then I started to go to university and got a look at our canteen at the business school of economics and law. And I was impressed. Neatly decorated, small sized tables, some lounge like areas and a cool terrace. Besides that you can also eat one of the diverse offers of salads, meals, sandwiches or sweets.
Compared to other canteens of universities ours seems to be tiny. But that’s the flair about. It is more familiar and cozy. That’s what the Berliner Morgenpost found out last week. This newspaper tested Berlin’s canteens and published some great results for our Business School. Out of the nine recommended canteens at Berlin the HWR was placed fourth. They especially pointed out the roof situated location with Sweden ambiance, as well as bright wooden chairs with colorful walls. You should also enjoy the view outside the terrace.
Here are the categories they used and the contributed points for the HWR.

But so far I didn’t marked what I really love about the canteens in Berlin. They all have the same card systems. This means that you basically can eat at every canteen or cafeteria in Berlin with one single card. Additionally I have to admit that so far I did not try out others then mine. Actually a pity since then I can do my own ranking. And maybe the business school of economics and law will move up at my personal ranking.
Just check out what is going on next weeks at your canteen. At least you are then culinary prepared for school.
Bon Appetit,
Katleen
